Turks & Caicos

Turks & Caicos

Turks & Caicos (Providenciales) is one of our absolute favorite travel destinations. It is so incredibly beautiful with the ocean looking like a giant swimming pool, amazing restaurants, and just a perfect place to relax for a few days.

We traveled there two times (so far) In April 2018 and February 2019. Both were perfect times to visit (although I am not sure if there is a bad time?)

We stayed at two different hotels on different sides of Grace Bay. The first time we stayed at the Sands https://www.thesandstc.com/, and second at Royal West Indies https://royalwestindies.com/. Both were great hotels, although we preferred Royal West Indies as it was closer to many of the restaurants we liked. You really can’t go wrong though! Both hotels had bikes you could borrow if you felt like going to the center of town a little faster and hit up the grocery store for the necessities.

We didn’t rent a car - but you certainly could, although you don’t need it. We grabbed a taxi each way to and from the airport ($28 each way).

Here are the restaurants we ate at over the course of the two visits:

Lunch:

  • Hemingways (at the Sands)

  • Pelican Bay (at the Royal West Indies)

  • Jack’s Fountain (walking distance from Royal West Indies)- super fun place for lunch or a casual dinner. They have cornhole and stuff like that. The poutine was to die for.

Dinner:

  • Coyoba - a local spot, we really did like it the first time, although the second time the service wasn’t as good

  • Grace's cottage - super cute

  • Opus - really good but further away, over on the golf course

  • Seven - delicious, fancy. so good though. great wine list.

  • Infinity bar - it is so beautiful and the bar is gorgeous.

  • Coco Bistro - everyone loves the place, we liked it but liked the others better

  • Solana - right on the beach!

Best to make a reservation at any of these places to be safe so you can eat at the time you would like. If you are there during the Turks Lobster season do yourself a favor and try some! You could also go to the store and buy some and cook if you have a kitchen in your hotel or air b&b.

The local beer is actually very good - we enjoyed it! Plus fun names

Honestly besides relaxing there isn’t much to do and that is perfect! The town has some cute shops if you feel the need for a souvenir, but just relax and enjoy the crystal clear waters!
